4043 is a 5% Silicone alloy used to weld heat-treatable base alloys. It is most often used to weld the 6XXX series of alloys. The silicone addition improves puddle fluidity, producing an appealing bead profile. It is less crack sensitive on the 6XXXX series than other alloys.
4043 is suitable for spray arc & pulsed arc MIG Welding on thin aluminium materials.
Common applications are automotive parts, diesel tanks, truck trailers and bicycles. It also suited to Oxygen/Acetylene brazing of thin aluminium sheet and tubing when used with aliminium flux.
Layer Wound.
Must be used with a shielding gas – Argon or Pure Argon Gas.
